Date of Inscription to the World Heritage List: 9.12.1988
List Reference: 484 Criteria: Cultural

Xanthos, which was the capital of Lycia between 700 and 300 BC, is known as the largest administrative centre of Lycia during antiquity. Letoon, which was Inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List together with Xanthos in 1988, was one of the most prominent religious centres of antiquity.

Xanthos (Arrina) is where Serpedon lived. Sarpedon encouraged Prince Hector during the Trojan War by writing a poem to him. The site is on the road between Fethiye and Kas, 46 km from Fethiye. It Is part of present-day Kinik village, on the Esen, a stream separating the provinces of Mugla and Antalya.
The archaeological value of Xanthos and Letoon make them very important parts of world heritage. The sites are about 4 km apart.
The original Lycian sarcophagi once situated just above the amphitheatre, and the original Harpy Tomb are In the British Museum.
The sanctuary of Leto was discovered in 1840. There are a six-row theatre, a basilica, Inscription tablets, three temples, a round portico attached to the cult building of the empire and an L shaped stoa. In the ancient city, there are three temples devoted to Leto and her twin sons. Leto’s twins, Apollo and Artemis, were deities, and were honoured, like their mother, with a temple each.
The largest temple, devoted to the mother of Artemis and Apollo, is the Leto Temple built on the west side In perípteros style. It Is 30.25m by 15.75m. On the east side the Apollo Temple is in the Doric style and it is 27.90m by 15.07m. The Apollo Temple looks exactly like the houses depicted In the Lycian tombs. The foundation remains are noteworthy since they have a timber structure. The lesser Artemis Temple Is situated between the other two temples. It Is 18.20m by 8.70m.
As water levels have risen since antiquity, the lower parts of the buildings are now under water.
Xantos with its spectacular theatre, structural ruins, mosaics, and the underground ruins waiting to be uncovered and Leton with its Leto, Apollon and Artemis temples, monastery, fountain, and Roman theatre ruins are waiting for their visitors to tell their tales.

The River Manavgat flows 90 km from the eastern slopes of the western Toros (Taurus) mountains, passes over hard conglomerated strata, forms the Manavgat Falls and then enters the coastal plain to empty into the Mediterranean Sea.
In the spring, the Manavgat runs full and clear, added to by underground springs in the canyons it passes through, until the river’s force is interrupted by the Oymapinar Dam.The upper reaches of the Manavgat can be reached by taking the Manavgat-Alanya highway to the east and turning north towards Akseki, 10 km after passing the town of Manavgat. Four kilometres before Akseki, turn off towards Ibradi to reach the Sahap bridge, the starting point for river sports. The area around Manavgat has rich natural surroundings. Among the many caves in the area, the most interesting is the Altinbesik cave. Annual explorations have extended the known part of this cave to 2200 m, and it contains fascinating lakes, stalactites and stalagmites. The area is excellent for mountain biking, trekking and paragliding in the area of Irbadi and Ormana, which also hosts a large population of wild goat, wild boar, rabbit, red legged partridge and many other birds.

Course

Selecting a starting point in the Manavgat is determined by the level and velocity of the water. Under favourable conditions, the start can be made near Sahap bridge near Ibradi. River sports on the Manavgat are dangerous for novices, and all participants should be accompanied by professionals and a local guide. The best place for rafting and canoeing on the Manavgat is on the 19 km stretch between Sahap bridge and the village of Sevinc, where the river cuts steep, sometimes impenetrable gorges through the canyons.
1st Canyon: The river flows swiftly through the first canyon, situated between Sahap bridge and Altinbesik cave, enlarged by an underground spring 500 m before the canyon. Paddling here is a memorable adventure, but those who do not wish to enter the second canyon may disembark near the cave. From there, a path leads to the village of Urunlu in the west and to Mentesbey in the east.

2nd Canyon: The second canyon is accessible from Altinbesik Cave. Banked by impregnable cliffs, it stretches to the village of Sinanhoca. At the end of the canyon, the riverbed widens, providing a rest area and disembarkation point. The falls prior to Sinanhoca, located towards the end of the second canyon, are very dangerous, flowing underneath and on both sides of a huge boulder. Boats must be carried at this point.

3rd Canyon: The third canyon begins after Sinanhoca, where the river passes through several falls before it exits the canyon near Sevinc, completing the trip down the Manavgat.

This course runs through three canyons and involves passing through smaller and bigger class 3-4-5 waterfalls. As soon as the sound of the falls is heard, the group must stop ashore to determine the best passage. When passage is impossible, canoes should be carried on shore or guided by rope, resuming the course after skipping the dangerous part.

The river slows down between the falls, giving an opportunity to enjoy the unspoilt surroundings. When travelling through the canyons, there are points when it is impossible to see the sun, even at noon. If the water level is too low for canoeing in the vicinity of Sahap bridge, gear can be carried to the area around Altinbesik cave via Urunlu, and the course resumed from there.

Emerging from the Toros (Taurus) Mountains and running through a number of amazing canyons, Koprucay flows into the Mediterranean Sea to the south of Serik.

Fed by underground springs in gorges that cut through steep, impassable canyons, the Koprucay constitutes one of Turkey’s most beautiful natural recreation areas. The numerous archaeological sites in the area, especially the ancient city of Selge (Zerk), the fortresses on the banks of the river, arched Roman bridges and historic roads add to the significance of the Koprulu Canyon.
Koprucay is reached from Antalya via Serik, Tasagìl and Beskonak. Those coming from Manavgat can reach Beskonak via Tasagil. The asphalt road to Beskonak follows the Koprucay in various places.

Koprulu Canyon National Park covers 36,000 hectares, including part of Koprucay and the ancient city of Selge. As Turkey’s largest forest of Mediterranean Cypress, the National Park is rich in red pine, black pine, cedar, fir, oak and wild olive trees. The wild animals in the region include fallow deer, wild goat, wild boar, bear, wolf, fox, rabbit and various bird species. There are red speckled trout in the upper reaches and grey mullet in other parts of the Koprucay.

Course
Approximately 100 m before Oluk Bridge, the water is still and the river forms a pool. This is a good spot to start your trip and gives an inexperienced crew time to get used to the rowing technique. The bridge is reached by paddling against the current. Less experienced groups usually enter the canyon from the Oluk Bridge, while professionals may do so either from the falls near the start or from the Oluk Bridge, turning around further ahead to start the trip. The course continues after passing the falls, and areas of class 2-3 water.

The falls along the river add to the beauty of the landscape. After each waterfall, the Koprucay slows down, giving time to enjoy the majestic setting.
A concrete bridge is 10 km down the river, and novices should complete their journey immediately before this point.

Experienced rowers can continue into the first canyon after the bridge, but the second canyon is strictly off limits, since the river runs under rocks in paces. After disembarking at the end of the first canyon, which is about 3 km long, the left bank leads to an asphalt road.

Kılıç KÖKTEN, Professor of Prehistory at the Ankara Faculty of Language, History and Geography who began the research on Karain Cave in a systematical manner from 1946 up to 1973, when the layer of compact earth at the entrance to the cave was excavated. Excavations are still underway. According to findings revealed, it was understood that Karain Cave was continuously inhabited in the Middle Paleolithic (Stone) ages.

It is possible to understand from the inscriptions and monograms on the outer walls that this inhabitation also continued during the classical ages and that the cave was used as a sacred votive and worshipping place. Cultural findings in Karain Cave include hand axes, various scrapers, jewellery and arrowheads made of flintstone, in addition to bones of animals such as hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses and elephants; pieces of fossilised bones belonging to homo sapiens, humans of the middle paleolithic era. Most of the findings unearthed at Karain Cave are displayed in the small museum located where the slope borders on the plain and some of them at the Prehistory Hall of the Antalya Museum.

The cavern was found precious enough for cave tourism and the studies are still progressing. The cavern displays generally dry characteristics but it is sometimes in the kind of active cavern. It is completely dry in summer months. In precipitant seasons, as the floor water level rises, the floor of the cavern is flooded. The temperature inside the cavern is mostly cool according to the open air in summer. In Autumn, the temperature displays equivalence with the open air temperature.

Karain Cavern
Location: Antalya
The cave is found inside the borders of Yagca Village which is at 5 – 6 km. distance to the old Antalya – Burdur highway, 30 km northwest of Antalya.

The cave stands in the period of the beginning of the history of the mankind, as the cavern was continuously accommodated by early humans during the prehistoric and classic periods starting from lower Paleolithic, medium and high Paleolithic, Neolithic, Calcolithic and Ancient Bronze stages. As a natural result of this, the cavern contains a thick cultural layer which can be 11 meters. But the longest and most important accommodation period of the cave is relevant with the Paleolithic period.

The usage at the classical period is more likely as an Offering Cave(Temple) and there are Greek inscriptions and niches at the cave exterior walls and ceiling. The archeological findings discovered from the archeological excavations done inside Karain Cave are displayed at the Antalya Museum and at the Karain Museum which is just near the cave.

Kocain Cave
The cave is at the falezli coast of Ataturk Park in Antalya.

Kucukdipsiz Cave
It is at the southern slope of Alakaya Hill (661m.), which is the continuance of Tunek Tepe (618m.) towards southwest.

Properties: The kind of the cave is dry and horizontal and the total length of the cave is 74 m, and the deepest point of the cave in respect to the entrance is 27.5 m. After a narrow entrance, the cave continues towards northwest with an approximate inclination of 25º. Towards the end of the cave, the frequency of travertine stalactites and stalagmites are increased. As the karstic floor waters stay at higher parts, the cave is always dry. The cave is chilly when compared with the open air. When the temperature of the open air is 20ºC, it is 17ºC at the end of the cave.

Papazyakasi Cave
Location: Antalya
It is at the sideways of the stairs descending to the sea from the rear garden of the Antalya City Club.
Properties: The cave is at the middle of the travertine step descending towards the sea, at 20 m. height from the sea. The total length of the cave is 149 meters. There is no water or pond inside the cave. The development of the cave had been halted. The cave floor had become rough ground with climbs and downwards and sometimes becomes very narrow because of the rock blocks falling from the ceiling of the cave. The number of the stalactite and stalagmites are at very low numbers. There is no air current.

Location: Antalya

Properties: The cave, with the total length of 110 m. has the deepest point at 27 meters in respect to the cave entrance. The development of the cave had been halted. The floor of the saloon having the connection with the sea is partially covered with sea water. The temperature of the cave is relationally chilly when compared with the open air.

It is planned to be utilized as cafeteria, casino or restaurant because of its size.

Altinbesik Cave
Location: Antalya, Akseki
The cave is located at the western slope of the deep and very steep Manavgat Valley which is to the east of Urdunlu village of Akseki District. It takes about one hour of walking to the cave from the village.

Properties: The cave, with the total length of 2500 m. has the highest point at +101 meters in respect to the cave entrance. It is a horizontal and partially active cavern. As the lower and medium parts of the cavern are sometimes active, small lakes are formed at the dry seasons most of the time. The upper level is always dry. The air of the cave is very humid and the average temperature is around 16-18ºC. No animal groups drawing attention are encountered.

Altinbesik Cave is one of the most beautiful caves of Turkey. The karstic topography of the environment and the pine forests exhibit a marvellous spectacle. The cave is at the exit end of a very long and big underground system. This big system pulling Kizilova, Kambos and Sobucesuyu ends at the Altinbesik – Dudensuyu Cave under the Oruc Sinkhole Cave. Therefore, this underground water system with a length exceeding 100 km is one of the longest and biggest karst systems of the world.

Big rock blocks are interesting at the high levels of the cave which loose the activity totally. Among these there are stalactite and stalagmites. The first 200 meters via the cave entrance forms the lower level and is permanently under water. Through the end of the lower level, there is a steep climb of 40 m. This climb and adjasent walls are covered with thick travertine of white color. This forms the most beautiful location of the cave.

It is approximately at 500 – 600 m distance to the road, at the right side after trespassing Baslar village. But reaching the cave is very hard because of the big limestone blocks on the path.

Properties: After entering the cave, in the first course, a descend from a mouth at 25 m width by stairs is necessary. Especially in spring, it is hard and dangerous to proceed forward with boat because of the high amount of water inside and because of the presence of the sharp and pointed limestone tips at the cave surface. In August, the water level falls and small lakes are formed.

Kocaduden Cave

Location: Antalya, Akseki District
The cave is located at the southwest edge of the Akseki Polje. The track separated from the Akseki-Bucakkisla road at 4th kilometer passes very near to the cave.

Properties: Although the cave has horizontal localities, it mostly develops vertically and decreases down to 155 meters like stairs. Kocaduden, which drains the surface waters of Akseki Polje river basin is developed on an important fault line formed by the Upper Creates Limestone. Koca Duden holds numerous lakes within and ends with a closed siphon.

Oruc Dudeni Cave
Location: Antalya, Akseki District
The cave is on the path of the incoming underwater flows to Altinbesik – Dudensuyu Cave.

Properties:The total length is 52 meters. It is about the collapse because of the operation caused by the underwater creek passing through the lower levels of the cave.

Dim (Gavurini) Cave

The houses in Antalya can be divided into three types based upon the design of the main hall, which also serves as a storage area. The three types are I halls, L halls and U halls. In the design of these houses, great attention was paid to meeting the necessities of daily life, while also providing harmony with nature and the environment.

Though limited in scope there are fresh vegetables grown along the coast but as one moves into the interior, wheat and other crops become more common.

The primary dishes which make up the modern diet are kolle (boiled wheat, beans, chickpeas), sautéed meat with vegetables, tomato civesi, hibes, arapasi, tandir kebab and the local jellies.

Yivli Minaret (Alaaddin Mosque, Center)
It is in the city center of Antalya. It is the minaret of Alaaddin Mosque, which was converted into a mosque in 1230 by Seljuk Sultan, Alaaddin Keykubad.Catching one’s eyes at the first look, Yivli Minaret considered as a symbol of the city. As its structure is cut up into slices by bricks, and constructed with 8 pieces of semi – cylindrical shape, it is named as Yivli Minaret. Very thick body had gained an aesthetic structure due to these grooves. Turquoise and dark blue colored Allah and Mohammad words are written to every direction of the floor.

Kesik Minare Mosque (Korkut Mosque – Cami – i Kebir, Center)
Seljuk Period piece of art, the mosque was previously constructed as Panagelia Church in the name of Virgin Mary by Byzantium during 5th A.D., and turned into a mosque by Sehzade Korkut during Bayezit II. It is also known as Korkut Mosque or Cami-i Kebir due to this reason. It is renamed as Kesik Minaret as the mosque was destructed after the a fire in 1851.

Kale Mosque (Sultan Suleyman Mosque, Alanya)
It is at west side of the shipyard of Alanya. It was constructed by Seljuk Sultan, Alaaddin Keykubad I. As it was re-constructed by Sultan Suleyman between 1530 and 1566, it is also known as Sultan Suleyman Mosque.

Saint Nicholas Church (Kale – Demre)
Myra (Demre) is known as the place where Saint Nicholas, known as Santa Claus (Father Christmas) in Christianity world, had performed his duty as a bishop. Moreover the church was constructed during 6th century as a memorial to Saint Nicholas after his death. Some remnants of Saint Nicholas tomb which has been stolen to Bari city by Italian sailors during the second half of our century are currently exhibited in the Antalya Museum. International Santa Claus (Father Christmas) Festival organized every year in Kale(Demre) and Kas between December 6-8 turn into a symposium where foreigners have also participated in Antalya recently.

Aya Yorgi Church (Alanya)
It is thought that the church within the Alanya Castle, was constructed by Byzantium during VIth century A. D.

For Happiness Men And Women Shouldn’t Take A Holiday Together!

The research of “Men’s Health” magazine which is published at Germany shows this result. Because of the fact that when they take a holiday together they get jealous much more and they also argue much more.

Jealousy, amounts of the luggage, drinking, different hobbies… For those reasons men and women make life miserable for each other when they take holiday together. Specialists say that “take a holiday with your fellows” for a peaceful holiday. Those are the most common reasons for arguments at holidays:

« According to researches nearly one-third of the women get angry when the man looks at other women near them. The proportion of the men who get angry when their wives look other men is only %14.

« %50 of the men get angry when the women take too many properties with them to the holiday, only %8 of the women get angry about this situation.

« %31 of the women get angry when their husbands don’t interest in cultural activities and %23 of the women get angry when their husbands go for a drink leaving them alone.

« %32 of the men get angry when their wives lie on the beach and sunbath and try to have new friends.

You should make our honeymoon plans with your partner. So your honeymoon will be according to both of you.

Make a list of what you will take along. Doing your honeymoon shopping according to this list both prevent complicity and minimize the things you would forget. Inform your travel agency all the details about your wishes in your travel. It will be your most special holiday, won’t it? You should make a schedule carefully.

Time is really important no matter you have your own business or you are an employer. You should arrange its time according to your business and you should make plans about doing as much as things in such a short period. Some nuances such as breakfast or dinner will make your honeymoon different. You should make a point of these details.

Meanwhile you should adjust your communication with your partner according to some particular standards. Getting used to living together may take time, but if you behave more tolerated in this period, your communication with your partner will be healthier. You shouldn’t behave aggressively; you should choose every single word carefully; because any wrong word will spoil your honeymoon.

You shouldn’t leave your hotel reservation to the last day. You should have extra time incase of any problem. Pay attention not to delay your honeymoon, it would be better if you go on your honeymoon holiday with the excitement of the first day.

Summer season is holiday season. People look ahead to summer and rush into beaches. Young ladies and women follow the beach fashion closely. They immediately learn which clothes and which colors are fashionable. They wear well-matched clothes to their bikinis when they go to beach. They do their hair and use some special hair accessories. Besides some women and young ladies wear make up when they go to a beach.

Normally, it is advised to wear light make-up. Dark make-up looks bad and exhausts the skin with the effect of sunlight and temperature. That’s why light make-up should be preferred. It is enough to use face powder instead of using heavy foundation. Blusher and mascara look nice. And lip gloss completes the make-up. You should use sun protector cream before make-up at summer season.

Wearing make-up isn’t advised when going to beach. It is enough to dab a protector cream. Make-up wouldn’t be so healthy with sea and sun. However some women want to be seen made-up in the beach. You shouldn’t use heavy make-up products that cover your skin. It is advised not to use heavy foundation, powder and concealer. You may use lightly colored factor cream. Light colored blusher could be used lightly. You may use water-proof mascara but it wouldn’t be healthy if you swim. That’s why dull, clear mascaras are recommended. If you wish you can edge your eye-brows. You may use factored moisturizing lipsticks for your lips. There are also colored lipsticks, if you wish you can use one of them. If you wear lip rouge, it wouldn’t look good after swimming. For this reason lip protectors are recommended.

Water-proof make-up products are produced esoterically, these products are more durable and have water resist feature. These products don’t run. These products are appropriate for beach make-up, but it is faulty to be applied to skin. Make-up products can cause some allergy because of the sunlight. Water-proof mascaras and lipsticks are the most common products. You have to use some special products in order to clean these water-proof products as their structure is different.

You don’t have to be made-up to look nice at the beach. Your hair will look nice if you apply sun protector hair conditioner. You may draw attention with various bikinis, suits and beach clothes. You can encolor your nails with nail polishes and catch a nice mood. You can be bright and spectacular at the beach by using nail polish that is appropriate to your bikini. The important thing in the beach is health. Protecting ourselves from sun’s and sea’s drier effects and from sun lights should be our main aim. You should apply moisturizer and sun protector creams to your skin and hair. In this way your summer would be enjoyable and healthy.

If you want your swimming suit, which you bought for too much money, to be long lasting, you should pay attention some important points while buying it and using it.

The life of suits and bikinis are up to you. If you want to wear your suits for a few seasons instead of wearing it for only one summer, pay attention to suggestions of “Sensible Shopping Encyclopedia” prepared by Turkey Consumer Protection and Education Foundation (Consumer Foundation) about suit care. It is in your power to look thinner with an appropriate suit. If you pa attention to the requests below, you can easily find the suit that fits you best.

« Don’t eat or drink to swell your stomach before shopping.

« Don’t forget the fact that you are going to sunbath with your suit. That’s why avoid suit and bikini models that will leave trace too much.

« Give importance to your body shape. You can see what makes you look thinner by looking in a mirror. The mirror shouldn’t be attached to the wall, it should be front sloping. You should sit and stand, move your arms in front of the mirror. You should pay attention not to choose suits that don’t make you comfortable.

« Cross striped make you look large, erectly striped make you look thinner.

« You have to be thin and especially tough to wear some kinds of suits.

« You should change your wet suits.

« No matter how they look nice, you shouldn’t choose that kind.

« Avoid the suits that dam up breasts. Don’t give up your upper parts because you want your lower parts nice.

« In order to be sure about the quality of the cloth, prefer well-known labels.

« Bright colors fade quickly in the sun.

Pay attention to these things looking after your suits:

« Rinse it after using.

« The suits should be hung out reversely.

« You shouldn’t wash it in washing machine.

« Wash is once a week with soap without crumbling much.

« Dry it under the shade.

« Don’t stay in the pool because of the fact that chlorine shortens the life of the suits.

In order to carry your bag more easily you should pack them properly. Separate everything into three groups choosing the things which you will take with you; absolutely necessary, the things which will serve a lot and luxuries. It is important to take all the things in first part, pay attention with the second part and be strict with the third part. Pay attention to put the things, which might be useful throughout the journey, to easily reachable places such as side pockets of the bag. You should separate other things into two groups; lights and heavies. Place heavy ones to the closer parts to your back in order to provide balance. While climbing, the position of the center of gravity should be lower, that is closer to your waist.

1- Place heavy things to the bottom of the bag.

2- Place alternative clothes on the sleeping-bag and at the very upper parts of the bag.

3- Place heavy things such as food and cooker to the closer parts of the bag to your back.

4- Place the things that might be necessary during the walk.

5- Tent is one of the materials that can be carried close to the back.

6- Mats can be carried outside the bag at the bottom or top.

7- Place small things such as map, compass and glasses to the side pockets or hat pocket of the bag.

Swimming For Children

A child has to begin today in order to be best in future. Swimming is one or two sports branch of which education and cultural rate is higher. That’s why a child should start up swimming at a very early age and gain habit of it.

Children have some basic needs. The most important one of those is the need to move. Almost every one mentions that his/her child is so active; behaving needlessly has unnecessary misbehaviors and breaks windows etc. This is a situation that children can’t control and it is an innate necessity. It is like their eating, drinking and sleeping necessities.

The older ones assume this activeness as a bad behavior. The best way to change this negativeness to positive is to make your child start swimming.

In this sport being active is the biggest advantage for being successful. Your child’s being naughty, which you complained all the time, (we call this being active) is the biggest step for your child to be a successful swimmer. In any case, a person who tasted the feeling of being successful won’t give up this feeling. He wants being successful to continue. In order to be successful he will want to exercise more.

Your child would be too exhausted to monkey around, after expending too much energy at training.

In this way, a child won’t spend his/her energy in vain and s/he will feel the advantage of being active and become a social person.

At the same time swimming is really useful for reserved children to gain social spirit and self-respect. Because in swimming the same interest is shown to every individual swimmer. This characteristic is because of swimming sports being an individual sports branch.

IMPORTANT SUBJECT 1:

The structures which provide increase in length are commissure of articulations.

The places which provide them to increase in length are epiphysis.

Especially at the ages of 0-5 and 11-17, in which period increasing in length is fast, we should protect epiphysis tissues.

For this reason no load should be overlaid.

In tolerating this situation the must useful movements are the ones which the child does with his/her own weight.

You should be careful with the sports that are done with materials.

Swimming Education of Children

Swimming education of children, which starts at 3 years old, contributes a lot of thins; from his/her skeleton development to his/her appetite…

At last they will be;

*  healthy

* spry

* athletic

* influencing to his/her body

* perfectly shaped

* self disciplined

* hardworking

Doing a sportive activity and living this culture at the early ages is the most essential will.

Pay Attention While Buying Sunglasses

Experts advise the following things to the people who want to buy sunglasses:

« First of all, your eyes shouldn’t be glazed over when you wear the glasses. This shows that the quality of the glass used in the sunglasses is low.

« The color of the glass should be same in every part. If some parts are dark and some parts are light, don’t buy those glasses. If it is about a color spectrum from darkest to lightest, it is not a problem. If your choice was in that way, pay attention that the upper parts of the glasses is darker.

« There must be a registration that shows that stop ultraviolet lights. It is obliged for all sunglasses to have certificate by The Ministry of Health. Ask for the certificate while buying.

« The ones who are wearing prescription glasses should definitely take an optometrist’s advice.

Specialists lists the points should be considered in this way:

« Your face shape is square or nearly square, arched eyeglasses best suits you.

« If the shape of your face is long, the glasses should cover most parts of your face. By this way the glasses will divide your face into two and this won’t make it look longer.

« If your face is circular choose arched or slight glasses.

« If you have a triangle shaped face, pay attention that the stripes of the frame should be vertical.

« If the shape of your face is oval, the glasses should be well-proportioned to your face’s dimensions.

Specialists also says that a cotton and dry dust cloth should be used instead of napkins in order to clean the sun glasses and they also warn “Cleaning it with a napkin can damage its covering.”.

It is a well-known truth that sunglasses protect eyes from dangerous sun lights at summer. But the sunglasses that you buy from a street vender harm your eyes. It is always reminded that sunglasses are not accessories, they should be accepted as a required object for eye health and they should be used as health equipment. While it is said that using sunglasses just to protect your eyes from sunlight and to look smart is really dangerous, it is reported that the shape, material and accessories are important, too.

What Should You Do?

- First make a list that you want to take with you. Post it on your refrigerator or wherever appropriate and don’t be lazy to write down the things you remember (because it wouldn’t be good to find out at 03:00 a.m. at the first day of your holiday that you had forgotten your child’s baby bottle or pampers).

« Determine a point for collecting your staffs and store here the staff that you are planning to take with you. Ask your child whether is there anything that she/he wants to take with and ask him/her to bring it to this point.

« Place everything to your car (if you are planning to travel with your car) the day before your holiday (except from the food).

« Check your tickets if you won’t travel with your car.

« Pack your child’s own bags. Take two different clothes for a day if your child is older than 3, take three or more different clothes for a day if your child is younger than 3.

« Have child safety seat for your child’s security if you are going to travel with your car.

« Don’t forget taking your child’s stroller or pushchair if you are planning to take it.

« Check your and your child’s creams, medicines and other staff and make sure they are not absent.

« Don’t forget to take some toys for your child that he/she loves.

« Don’t forget to take some soothing CDs and books.

« Learn the conditions of the hotel and don’t forget to arrange your staff according to this. It is true that it’s winter nor but hotels have indoor pools. You may not take your swimwear thinking that the hotel don’t have an indoor pool but you’re your child might want to take some time in the pool seeing it. To prevent something we advise you to make a reconnoiter.

« Decide the things which your child wants to take with him/her by talking to him/her. This make you prevent a crisis that may happen at holiday.

« Prepare some food and drinks for your child, because he/she might have get hungry or thirty throughout the journey.

Usage Of Suncream

« Apply your protector sun cream before you go outside; don’t apply it under the sun.

« A baby shouldn’t be exposed to direct sun light before 6 months. Don’t use sun cream on your baby without asking a doctor.

« You should apply sun cream to older children 10 or 20 minutes before going outside. Pay attention to the places which are not protected by clothes.

« At first just a few minutes and than for 20 minutes you can take your child outside to the sunlight.

« Carry a sun cream after your baby is 6 months old.

« Make your child wear a shady hat when she/he is exposed to sun light. Make him/her wear a protective cloth even s/he is swimming. The clothes should be light and tightly knitted.

« Go outside at the early or late hours of the day if the weather is too hot. If it possible don’t go outside at noon.

« Apply water-resistant sun cream to the children who play in the water. After the game dry them and apply the sun cream again.

« If your child is using a medicine, make sure that it is not sensitive to sun light.

« Make yourselves a perfect example for your children and protect yourselves well.

While choosing a sun cream…

« 20-30 protecting factor sun cream is enough for babies and children.

« 30 factor is appropriate for the ones whose skin color is really light.

« The product should protect from long or short ultraviolet lights (UVB or UVA).

« Some contaminants may cause some allergic skin responses. Those products contain PABA. Apply it to the 1 cm part of your child’s fore arm one day before. Apply a plaster on it. The previous day take off the plaster and make your child go outside (Protect other parts of your child with clothes). If this part reddens, use another product on that part.

« Two specialties are required for protection on water: “waterproof” protects four times for 20 minutes swimming. “Water-resistant” protects twice for 20 minutes swimming.

Sun Cream, Usage of Sun Cream, The Important Point Buying a Sun Cream, Sun Tanning, High Factor Sun Cream, The Effects of Sun and Tanning on our Health

« Specialists say that the things which we assume that they are true about usage of sun cream are actually wrong. We want to share the things that we should pay attention to and some subjects that we know wrong.

« The idea of using the sun cream in small amounts might be attractive to you as the sun creams are expensive, but this don’t provide enough protection. You increase the risk of sunburn and skin cancer. And what is the appropriate amount? An adult should apply one-fifth of a bottle to the whole of your body. Don’t skip any parts while applying it.

« In order to reach a perfect tan, you may think that 2 factor sun cream or non-factor carrot or cacao oils are ideal but these creams harm your body and increase the risk of cancer.

« You may get tanned if you use 15 factor sun creams. But this only takes a much long time. You will remove the risk of sunburn by using a high factor sun cream and you can spend longer and more confidential time under the sun light. Also by this way you will take advantage of the heat of the sun more. Because of the fact that high factor sun creams provide you to make use of infrared radiation which warms your body up and doesn’t harm it.

« There are so many brands in the market that people buy the cheap ones because they can’t make a choice. Of course you don’t have to buy the most expensive one on the shelf hut it can be a big mistake to buy the cheapest one. The most important point while buying a sun cream is that it should protect you from both UVA lights and UVB lights. Most people aren’t aware of the fact that the mentioned SPF factor is only protection from UVB.

« Convenient thought is that; UVB lights cause sunburn and UVA lights cause ageing. But new researches show that UVA lights can cause both sunburn and ageing. For that reason, we have to protect our body from both UVB lights and UVA lights. However, most cheap creams don’t provide this protection.

« The UVA protection of a cream is usually measured by stars and the rate is shown at the back of the bottle. One star shows the lowest protection rate and four stars show the highest protection rate. It is necessary to buy a four starred UVA protection cream while paying attention to choose high SPF’ed sun cream.

« If you or one person of your family is getting sunburn easily, buying highest factor cream may be attractive to you. But it is nonsense to use a sun cream of which factor is higher than 30. The fact is that 30 factor sun cream blocks %98 of the sun lights and 60 factor sun cream blocks only %1 more than the other. That’s why it doesn’t worth paying too much money.

« The ones who use that high factor sun creams think that they are protected twice more than the ones who use 30 factor sun cream, and spend much time under the sun. But they aren’t protected twice.

We hope that these opinions of specialists offer an insight into your health.

Postscript: this subject is prepared to inform about Healthy Life. If you have health problem you should see a specialist.

Alanya is suitable for many sport activities in terms of climate and weather conditions. The biggest and the most magnificent sport activity is International Alanya Triathlon which is held in October every year.

Before elaborating the specialties of Triathlon Sport which was held in Alanya, we can explain what the triathlon and the structure of it is.

What is Triathlon?

Triathlon: The meaning is triple sports and it is a personal sport. It was held in Honolulu, which is the biggest island of Hawaiians, at 1977 for the first time. The story of triathlon’s appearance is really exciting. According to the information taken, a military officer named Jhon Collins working for United States of America Sea Commandership were to follow the three sports which were held at Honolulu at those times closely. These are:

« 3.800 meter-long Swimming Marathon which was held along Honolulu Beach

« 180 kilometer-long Bicycle Race which was held around the Honolulu island

« 42,195 kilometer-long Marathon which was held at Honolulu

While reviewing these three sports with his friends, an idea comes to his mind suddenly about organizing a single activity which includes these three sports. According to the ones, who were reviewing the competitions, this dream was impossible to occur, because tens of sportsman, who makes each of these sports separately, can’t reach the finish line. But Jhon and his adventurous friends supported this crazy idea and began this organization, which they called “IRONMAN”, with 15 sportsmen. Contrary to what is believed 12 sportsmen completed the organization without any accidents. As the years passed, the laps were made more reasonable in order to increase the attendance. Triathlon organizations became widespread among many countries.

As it was said in the beginning the meaning of triathlon is triple sports. For this reason, the organization can be different according to geographical regions, in which they are held for example, at a place where swimming can not be done, another different sport can be done instead of it.

Because of the fact that it is a personal sport, Triathlon sport has many licensed sportsmen after football in the world.

After informing to the ones who want to have information about Triathlon Sport, we can talk about the content of International Alanya Triathlon.

International Alanya Triathlon

In 1991 the first Triathlon of Alanya was held. This was also the first Triathlon organization of Turkey. Alanya Tennis and Triathlon Club leaded the foundation of Turkey Triathlon Federation at those years.

The Triathlon which was held in Alanya is one of the parts of Europe Championship and it consists of 135 km. swimming, 40 km bicycle riding and 10 km marathon.

Nearly 250 sportsmen attend this organization every year and satisfying amounts of money is given to the ones who gained rewards.

In order to attend the organization, you have to apply to Antalya Tennis and Triathlon Club.

Alanya, which is founded on a small peninsula, is the most popular touristic town of Antalya. There are Toros Mountains at the north and Mediterranean Sea at the south. At ancient times it was called Pamphilioa or Clicia time to time, because of the fact that it stands in the line between Pamphilioa and Clicia.

It is not known when and by whom Alanya had been founded. The oldest known name of the city is Korakesium. At the reign of Byzantine it was called Kalanoros. After 1st Alaaddin Keykubad (1200- 1237), who is one of the Seljuk emperor, took the castle, he changed its name to Alaiye. And Ataturk named it Alanya in his visit at 1935.

Alanya had been added to Cyprus State at 1571 and became district of Konya at 1864. It had been added to Antalya at 1868 and became one of its towns at 1871.

As a unique holiday centre, which was developed in terms of tourism, serves a great holiday to the tourists with its wide beaches, historical monuments, modern hotels, many fish restaurants, cafes and night clubs.

Seljuk Castle, which is one of the oldest buildings of the town founded at VII D.C and which is known as Alanya Castle, makes an impression on the people’s memories. The unique dock of which another example can’t be seen in the world and octangle Kizil Kule (Red Tower) should be seen.

Alanya is one of the most beautiful shores of Antalya. Many kilometres-long beaches are mostly sandy. In some parts the sand is so fine that the sand don’t stick to the body.

While the colour of the Mediterranean Sea changes turquoise from blue toward Alanya, Toros Mountains appears in the west. The sight of Toros Mountains is decorated with Pine and Ground Cedar and the overflowing rivers as if take you to another world. The smell of orange blossoms winds the streets like a mystic perfume and gives peace and joy of living to people.

In Alanya, caves are both on the see and on the land. Some of them are both so mysterious and sanative… Alanya is the symbol of the Sun…

It is a port city which was founded at a plain at the north-west of Fenike and south skirts of Tocak Mountain. Its name is “Zemuri” in Lykian tablets. At the coins which were stroke at 5 B.C Lydian Perikles’ name is written. These are evident that Limyra is a settlement place since 5 B.C. The most active era is 4 B.C, the time of Lykia King Perikles. At these times it was the capital city of Lykia. The brightest era of it is 2 and 3 D.C. It was damaged much because of the earthquakes and was rebuilt. It was the Bishopric Centre of Byzantine and it was abandoned because of Arab invasions at 8th and 9th centuries.

We can examine the remains of the city on three parts. The first place is acropolis, which was found and restored by Prof. Dr. Brochard, and heroon the south of it.

Acropolis consists of inner and lower towers, at the inner tower walls and cisterns and Byzantine Tower are among the most important buildings. Also caryatided grave memorial, which was build on behalf of Perikles, is among the places that should be seen.

At the second part at mountain skirts and plains there are Theatre, Roman and Byzantine walls Kenotaph Byzantine Church that was built for Augustus’ adoptive son Gaius Caesar and was built at 1 D.C.

At the third part we can see recropolis. Among the Lykian cities it is the one in which has the highest number of grave. We also recommend you to visit Roman Bridge stands near Limyra.

The city, which belongs to Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods, surrounded by mostly destroyed horseshoe shaped land and sea walls from inside and outside of the city, is called Kaleici. The houses and the streets of Kaleici shows the history of Antalya from past to today. When you look at old Antalya houses you not only see the architectural structure of the houses, but can also have some idea about the living, behaviors, traditions and social aspects of the people living in those houses.

Especially the streets which go with the same direction of the walls are narrow. The houses show many similarities, but they can be different in some way in terms of economic condition and using aim of the owners of the house. All of the houses, which was made with stone setting and wood connected style, have two sides; one looking to the street, the other one looking to the yard. At the first floor side of the house which sees the street there are not so many windows. The upstairs there are some projection called “Cumba”, these correspond both to house and to street and the tree decorations are really nice. The centre of the house “Taslik” which is stony ground and leads to the garden at the ground floor. There are wooden couch for resting. From this floor you can go the other rooms in ground floor and also go upstairs with a ladder. In ground floor the rooms were built for service. For example you can see storage and the kitchen in here. Upstairs are for living. Upstairs is sunnier because the windows are wider. In this room there are mostly two rows of window. The upper row consists of glassless and wooden windows and the lower one consists of openable windows. The upper windows of Cumbas made of small and generally colored glass. Most houses were redecorated according to their originality in Kaleici. Kaleici became beyond comparison holiday centre with its night clubs, rest houses, restaurants, souvenir shops and antique rug shops.

At 1972 Antalya inland port and Kaleici district were put on the protection because of its original structure as “SIT Area” by “Real Estate Old Monuments and Memorial High Council”. At 28 April 1984 tourism Ministry was rewarded with Golden Apple Tourism Oscar because of the restoration studies of “Antalya-Kaleici Complex” by FIJET (International Tourism Writers Union).

Hadrian Door was built for the Roman Emperor Hadrian and it can easily be found in the centre of Antalya. The door, which was constructed at 130 D.C, is one of the best protected monuments in Antalya. The most important reason of it to be protected so well is that the city walls closed the upper part of it and it wasn’t used for a very long time.

After the destruction of the city walls it rose with its magnificence. At the upper part of the door there are three dome-shaped rifts. It was totally built by white marble except the domes. The original of the door, which takes ones attention with its carving and relief, consists of two layers. But the second layer was destructed and no information is available about it.

Around the door, there are two towers which were built at another date. Julia Sancha tower, which belongs to Hadrian era, is built by using not ornamented block stones and it stands at the south. The lower parts of the northern one were built at antique ages but the upper parts were built at Seljuk era.

Imagine that you are at Ataturk Street which was ornamented with Antalya’s palm trees in front of the door. You walk through the door and there stands a different world old Antalya… The amusing adaptation of eras and civilizations, which you can see in the most parts of Antalya, stands side by side with two towers. We recommend you to visit Hadrian door which is the most beautiful wall of Pamphilioa. If you are taking your holiday or planning to take your holiday in Antalya, you shouldn’t return to your home without seeing this beauty…

Aspendos, which is at the Serik district of Antalya, is famous with it’s the toughest theatre that survived from the antique ages. The exact place, where it stands, is at Köprüçay (Antique Eurymedon) between two hill-planes, one of them is larger. We can understand that it was a wealthy city by looking at the coins striked by Aspendos city with Side at 5 B.C. On these coins the Anatolian based name “Estvediys” was written, this fact is the evidence of its being used for settlement from very early ages. The importance of Köprüçay is really huge because it provides the transportation with Mediterranean and it helps the city to develop with its fertile lands. The most visited parts of Aspendos are the theatre and channels. Recently a path arranged for the access to the other remains of the city.

It is known the people were trading corn and salt at Aspendos which was an important port town. According to historians the horses, which trained in here, were the most famous and wanted horses of Near East and Mediterranean regions. Rug like textiles and special furniture which was made of lemon tree are the most wanted souvenirs of the area.

Aspendos Antique Theatre is one of the most important monuments of Roman era. It was dedicated to Gods and the Emperor of that age. The perfect acoustic of the theatre, which was founded by Zenon son of Theodorus, fascinates the visitors. The capacity of the theatre is 17000 people and it was used as caravanserai at Seljuk times. The zigzag figures that can be seen in some parts of the stage buildings reflect Seljuk architecture. Cavea part is divided into two parts with semicircle planned and large diazoma. A wide gallery surrounds the back part of the cavea. There are special lodges for royalty and nuns on the each part of cavea. The relief of wine god Dionysus (the founder and the protector of theatres), which stands at the middle of the columnar front in triangle pediment, is spectacular.

We recommend you to visit this spectacular sight before finishing our writing with a love story about the foundation of Aspendos, which charms thousands of tourists every year.

Two important wrights of that age are in love with the daughter of the king, Semiramida. They both ask the king to marry his daughter. The king appreciates the two wrights and can’t decide to whom he should give permission for marriage. At the same time an idea strikes him. He calls the two wrights, and says; “You two are really important for me, as both of you want to marry my daughter, do essential things for the public and the public will make the decision. Zenon builds a theatre and the other one brings water to the city from the mountains. The king has difficulty in making a choice because both of the things are very important and essential for the public. At last king decides to give her daughter to both of them in despair. But Zenon the builder of the theatre is so much in love with Semiramina that he doesn’t let her die and gives up his right. This generosity affects the king very much and he rewards the architect of the thetre Zenon by giving his daughter…

Antiphelos is at Kas county of Antalya and at the junction of Karia and Lykia regions. In the tablets written in Lykian and in Pilinius the city is named as “Habesos” and the meaning of the city’s name is “Stony Country”.
Although it is known that the foundation of Antiphellos date back 6 B.C, the information we have about this period is limited. Even the grave findings show that at 4th century the city began to develop, the real development began when Phellos a port and defence city staying at north lost its importance. While the development was going on, it also started to get wealthy with cedar and sponge trade.

The name of Antiphellos which joined the Lykia union at 2 B.C was on the sesterces which were minted by the union. The king of Macedonia Alexander the Great took the city under his sway during his excursions to Anatolia. But a few years later Alexander the Great died and it was changed between Seleukos and Ptolemaios.

The city gained importance at Romanian period and became an exarchate centre at Byzantine period. After that it was under the sway of Seljuqs and was named Andifli. With the corruption of Seljuqs the city entered under the rule of Tekelioglu Seigniorial and at last at the time of Yıldırım Bayezid it was joined to Ottoman boundaries.

At the top of the monuments in Antiphellos Ancient City is Lykia tombs which stand at the rocks which are at the north of the city. The best example is the Lykian mausoleum which stands at Long Bazaar Street ( uzun çarşı caddesi). (4 B.C) The monument consists of one block and on it eight-line epigraph is written.

Antalya has always been a settlement from Palaeolithic Ages. Antalya was called “Pamphylia” at ancient ages. The fact proves a native nation living at the years of 1200 B.C that in many parts of Iliad of Homer the name of Antalya is being mentioned. Antalya was under the dominance of Lydia Kingdom, Persians and Great Alexander at first ages. At 2 B.C the king of Bergamo Attalos ordered to his raiders that “Find me an earthly paradise”, after that the west of Pamphylia was captured and the foundation of “Attalia” which took his name and also which is today’s Antalya was laid. It was occupied firstly by Roman Empire and at 4 D.C by Byzantine Empire after the death of Attalos the 3rd. The Seljuqs started Turkish-Islamic period with their domination in 1207 and at the end of 14th century Ottoman Empire took it under its sway.

The History of the Museum the aim of the foundation and the development of the museum is a really funny story. When Italians captured Antalya at 28 March 1919, they brought some archaeologists with them. The archaeologists were carrying the antique works acquired to the Consulate of Italy in the name of civilisation. Mr. Suleyman Fikri, who was fond of history of Antalya and archaeology, was opposed to this situation. Mr. Suleyman Fikri applied to Lieutenant Governor he became voluntary archaeology officer and found Antalya Museum by gathering all of the monuments.

First he founded the museum in a small mosque which is a branch of Tekeli Mehmet Pasa Mosque and then he brought the monuments which the Italians acquired after they left the city. After 1937 the Museum was moved to Yivli Minaret Mosque. By the excavation of that time so many beautiful monuments were used to be found.

Antalya Museum was honoured with the award of “Europe Council Museum of the Year” in 1988. Antalya is an open air museum and a universal excavation area with its archaeological specialities. Many scientists from many countries make scientific excavations every year. A lot of excavations and Orenyeri land use plan are still being carried out. Antalya Museum is both an Archaeology and History museum and it can also be qualified as Regional Museum. Most of the monuments that take part in the collection are gained with the excavations and the ethnographic monuments were compiled from the area by museum specialists. You can see monuments reflecting the thousands years old history of Antalya in a chronological order and sometimes the monuments are exhibited according to their subjects.

Antalya museum, which was designed in a modern way in Konyaalti and was one of the biggest museums of Turkey, is a museum which should be visited by History-Archaeology fanciers with its 3 exhibition rooms and open air galleries, 7.000 square metre zone, 5.000 exhibited monuments and 25.000-30.000 not exhibited monument.

Natural History and Prehistory Galleries Karain Cave is the oldest known settlement of Anatolia and it gives a solid stratigraphy belongs to a period from Palaeolithic Age to Roman Empire. In Karain Cave three showcases in which there are fossils of Geologic ages are exhibited besides the gravels, hand axes, rooters and bone tools.

Karain stands at the calcareous skirts of Şam Mountain and it is 25 kilometres faraway from Antalya. In the cave in 10,5 meter thick earth filling Palaeolithic dated findings and tooth and skeleton fossils of Neanderthal man who lived in Mesolithic era were seen.
Semayuk is the representative centre of the oldest Bronze Age in the area. Most of the findings are graveyard findings. The cubic grave, which is exhibited near the pots in various forms, seals, brush sticks and dead gifts especially, is really interesting. The most interesting and attention drawing aspect of this way of burying dead is that the body was replaced in a cube just like a baby’s position in mother’s womb.
Small Monument Gallery I technical developments of pottery art with the invention of potter’s wheel, some vase forms and various kinds of adornments are being exhibited in the time course from 12 B.C to 3 B.C.
At 2 showcases interesting findings such as makeup tools and trappings are being exhibited.

Gallery of Gods in this gallery head god Zeus and near him Tykhe, Athena, Artemis, Nemesis, Hygieia, Hermes, Dioskurs; opposite of these Egypt originated Serapis, Isis and their sons form the Harpokrates section. The sculptures belong to 2 D.C, they are the Roman copies of Greek originals and they were all found at Perge exhibitions.
Small Monument Gallery II in the showcases of this part some heavenly beautiful monuments of various eras dating back to 6 D.C from B.C are exhibited. The vase a gift for Egyptian Queen Benerike, Athena embossed silver plate, bronze sculptures of Apollon and Herakles, Attis head, marble sculpture of Priapos symbolizing fertility, small terra-cotta and marble sculptures are prominent monuments.

Gallery of Emperors the sculptures, all of which were found during Perge exhibitions, reflects the most beautiful examples of Roman Sculpture. The monuments of 2-3 D.C are common because of the fact that the most brilliant era of the area was those years. As well as the portrait busts of Traianus, Sabina, Septimius Severus, Iulia Domna, Hadrianus, Faustina, Iulia Soemias, Plankia Magna; three beauties and the sculpture of belly dancer are among the attractive monuments.

Gallery of Grave Cultures two tombs belonging to Dominitias Filiskas and his family are exhibited. On the coffin a laying couple was portrayed. The Eros pictures standing in the corners symbolize family bliss. The subject of the other precious tombs is Herakles and they date back to 2 D.C. Some parts of one of the tombs were taken to America and this is one of the biggest examples of historical artefact smuggling. In 1983 these parts are taken back from America and put together their places.

Grave stells and Cinerariums are being exhibited proper to their original status.
Mosaics and Icon Galleries the most important mosaics of the gallery is philosopher mosaics, the names of famous thinkers, orators, historians and mathematicians such as Solon, Thukydides, LYkurgos; Herodotus, Demosthenes and Hesiodos take place in this mosaic. It is excavated in the Seleukeia excavation. Another important monument is Orpheus depiction, he was said to bewitch wild animals with its instrument.
There are some galleries in which local sculpture examples, sculpture tools and bronze sculpture technique are being exhibited.

The 18-19 century dated icons which were gathered from Antalya area is being shown in these galleries.

Sesterce galleries the tradition of minting sesterce has a history of 2500 years and it continues from 6 B.C till now. City sesterces which belong to Pamphylia, Pisidia and Lykia areas; but primarily local sesterces in the chronologic order like Classic, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuqs and Ottoman periods are being exhibited.
In the gallery also golden and silver treasures are being shown.

Ethnography Galleries the ethnography department of our museum consist of 2 big galleries and an entry that combines these galleries.

At the first gallery ceramics, porcelains, religious works, medals, seals, vefk, clocks, jewellery, locks, keys and clothes are being shown.

The exhibited ceramics belong to Seljuqs and Ottoman Periods. Seljukian ceramics, which were made with flush mounted technique and Kubadabat style, were brought from Aspendos and they were made through the middle of 13th century.

The square boarded Iznik ceramics from 15-16-17 and 18th centuries belong to Ottoman.
Five porcelain plates are being exhibited in the gallery; these plates are production of Yıldız (Star) factory which was closed at 1920.

You can come across with religious works in Anatolia but Seljukian Koran is a special work which is a part of local public. There is a section where medals, seals, vefk, clocks are exhibited. ( vefk is talismanic prays and it uses talismanic in different ways) The section where the jewellery is being shown reflects the best examples of jewellery that people of Antalya still use. Different keys and locks that are different are among the special works. The clothes section divides into two; nomad clothes and bindals. The nomad clothes: socks, pantalets, three skirts, underclothes, purses, ceintures and headwears.
At the hallway combining these two parts, you can see written tablets such as hilye, naat, icazet and katig written by our old calligraphers.

The second gallery consists of four parts. These parts are; rugs, nomad tools, rooms and guns. You can see famous Usak, Gordes, Ladik, Mucur, Bergama, Kula and Avanos rugs in this gallery where local works and tools are exhibited. The most precious and the oldest monument of this gallery is Usak Rug which belongs to 16th century.
You can see the rugs that take their names from Dosemealti (at the north-east of Antalya) and the oldest and traditional example of these called “Halelli”.

In this section gunny sucks, saddle bags, fibres, prayer rugs which are special for Antalya, cilia, light rug, sumac and carpet techniques are being shown. Some interesting nomad works are also being exhibited with nomad tents here.
In one part of the gallery the sitting room, the bed room and the bath room of an Antalya home is being exhibited.

Scale devices, stands like ıstar, mutaf and hand çulfalığı, musical instruments and spoons are exhibited as local tools.

The whole production process of the spoons, which are the production of Bademli village of Cevizli District of Akseki, is exhibited.

Various kinds of antique toys and money boxes are being exhibited.

Suluin cave is the deepest cave in Asia. It is predicted that the cave was dry before because of the stalactites and stalagmites. The researches showed that the depth of the cave is almost 83 meters, if you follow the canals you reach a 45 meters depth gallery and it is possible to enter this gallery from many side canals. In the gallery pools, travertine and other formations are eye-catching. The depth of the cave isn’t obvious still and it waits for diving fanciers with its whole mystery.
